Professor Witzig is relieved to see the back of his most troublesome student, then absolutely stunned to see her on a television talk show interview one day, chattering about her brand new magical library.  He has a hard time handling the transition of believing magic exists, and an even harder time accepting that there is an actual magical university just a few hundred miles away.  It seems especially vexing when that brand new magical university's sports teams proceed to flatten his own school's in every game.

He eventually, tentatively writes to Aylia, once the head of his department notices he used to be her faculty advisor and demands he do so.  His career gets quite a boost when she responds enthusiastically, sending along a shopping list of one hundred "must have" books of magic for any school library -- and even includes two spare copies of books she had bought accidentally.

He's less than pleased when his promotion involves being made the head of his school's hastily-thrown-together "Magic Studies" program, and he's horrified when he gets two of Felincia's siblings in one of his classes later.  After eight weeks with them, he's convinced they're both worse than Aylia, and they might not even be the worst he's likely to get.  He retires early.
