Ah, the worm turns!  Aylia's used to being smarter than everyone around her, especially unpleasant people, and now she's got to learn that that just . . . isn't always the case.  If she realized just how much she's acting like Alassa here, she'd be completely humiliated.  She did have that one snooty girl's permission to try using magic on her, so she wasn't breaking her word to Queen Tilia or anything, but to have it not work . . . that's something Aylia is really not used to dealing with.
