In case you don't recognize the girl in the first panel -- and there's no reason why you should -- that's Stacey, Stefanee's new roommate.  Naturally, after weeks and months of living with Stefanee, she has personal reasons for disliking mermaids, but she's also not quite clever enough to catch on to the fact that getting loud and angry about mermaid annoyance only eggs them on further.  Even if she's figured this out, she's not good at holding her tongue -- she is an incessant gossip, remember.
