The Gorgon tries to be very polite whenever she feels a situation warrents it, but her patience is not unlimited.  Lettie has managed to irk her in any number of particularly offensive ways -- calling her by the wrong name, grabbing a part of her body without first asking permission (rather akin to some stranger coming up and poking you in the belly), and now this.  It is very offensive to the Gorgon's sensibilities to hear a parent basically trying to pretend their offspring doesn't exist.
