Alassa's not above snubbing commoners -- why should she feel any differently about princesses?  Especially when they happen to be in-laws that she's just about to outrank.  Perran's younger sister is kind of a forgotten person in her family pecking order -- her father plays obvious favorites with his three sons, and they're all a bit stuck up and insufferable.  Their one princess has always had it made clear to her that she will never inherit the throne and hence is unimportant to everybody.
