Remember when Aylia's mother thought it would be a fantastic idea to randomly throw a fiancé at her?  (She didn't react well to this.)  Well, Alassa is an even dimmer lightbulb than her mother, in many ways.  Not all monarchs are as fair or reasonably-minded as Aylia's aunt and uncle, and politically-arranged marriages are not unheard-of.  Alassa finds the thought of marrying somebody "beneath" her totally disgusting, but she would have no objections to a rich, powerful stranger.
