Alassa's mind (or what passes for one) works in strange and mysterious ways. Perfectly logical for her to show off her new discovery at the first available opportunity, of course, but as for the rest . . . Alassa thinks in very strange and convoluted and twisted ways. She's also very difficult to dissuade, even when she's dead wrong and it ought to be obvious. Alassa is not in the habit of believing that her first impressions are ever wrong . . . one of her those many less-endearing traits.
