So while Victoria's father is extremely annoyed to be outwitted, he's even more irked that their plot hasn't been subtle or clever enough for his taste.  He wants to keep his throne, of course, but he also feels that if he's going to lose it, he ought to lose it in a way that he can brag about to all his peers among the purple fairies.  And now he's chagrined to find that Victoria's "Phase One" didn't go quite as expected -- the queen wasn't captured, and could possibly have stopped X in time!  Ooops.
