Now, to prevent regicide, heirs do not get to claim the throne if the king dies under any circumstances besides old age. If there's even the slightest hint that the monarch has been murdered, the throne proceeds to exchange hands randomly, every month, until the culprit has been caught and tortured to death. At that point, the original heir to the throne (unless they were the culprit) finally becomes king. This policy is very effective in keeping ambitious nobility away from murder in their plotting.
