Alexis's method here of sticking up for her twin could be summarized as, "Let's get it over with."  It's obvious her parents are going to figure out what's going on quite quickly, and X's unwillingness to volunteer anything resembling useful information would be bound to just exacerbate the situation.  Of course, Alexis really doesn't want to get involved in this broiling situation, so while she's known perfectly well where X has been all semester, she's trying very hard to seem innocent.
