Thing is, X's parents could conceivably have stumbled across the truth about where she is in any number of ways by now. They haven't yet -- mainly because they've no reason to suspect she's lying -- but Aylia's right that X did not cover her tracks particularly gracefully (nor does she usually). Just one hint that she's lying, and they could probably piece together the truth, if they looked for clues with any determination, fairly quickly. Which means continued lying is not the brightest thing.
