. . . And this is pretty much exactly what Dron was trying to get Edriss to say.  He thinks her opinions are stupid, but he also thinks it's not his decision to make.  However, as long as she calls him "authority," she's implying that she will let his opinions sway her actions, in some way.  So Dron was trying to force her to make a decision: to accept that he has power over her, or to reject it.  And he could not evaluate this without a face-to-face confrontation, which is why he forced one.
