Aylia is, quite frankly, a magical genius. And yet she's gotten so little notice for this that it shocks her when somebody does give her respect that she should long since have earned. She's plenty confident, to be sure -- Aylia is aware of just how smart she is. But she's gotten so little notice for her skills that she tends to forget there's anything about them that should impress anybody. Which, in many ways, is a good thing: it's made her matter-of-fact, rather than self-conscious or arrogant, about her abilities.
