Dron's not stupid.  He recognizes that, since he has a teaching assistant, many of his students may decide to turn to Aylia as a "reliable authority figure" in lieu of him.  He doesn't want this to happen -- especially since Aylia's much nicer than him and would probably be helpful -- so he's setting up his students to distrust her from the start as much as they distrust him.  The students' instant suspicion of their TA -- Dron's perceived ally -- may or may not last.  But he figures it's worth seeing what will happen.
