Of course Sage Hinkarilin wasn't there to witness Sage Laraneth's first attempt at public speaking, since Sage Laraneth would have been fairly young at the time, long before Sage Hinkarilin was born.  But since Sages can see the past easily, it's hard to keep embarrassing past moments from them.  Which is why Sage Hinkarilin could gleefully threaten to expose all the crushes Kuralla's had in the past: it wouldn't have been hard to guess which boys she used to like by spying on younger-her giggling about them.
