I've been wanting to bring up Aylia's grandfather for awhile now, having Aylia talk about how she felt about him.  We know that he drove Corinn away -- we also know that he did a lot of magical research, and was, in fact, one of the two founders of the "multiple worlds theory."  He was brilliant, brusque, frequently grumpy, and to many people, not the most pleasant old man.  But he was a fantastic king, he always gave respect where it was due, and he was very fond of the grandchild who was most like him.
