I don't know if I've ever outrated stated this before, but Jenny's never understood what Aylia finds so wrong about her mother.  In many ways, Jenny's mother and Aylia's mother are polar opposites, and many of the traits Jenny's always wished her own mother had are present in Lettie -- openly warm affection, a vast desire to see her daughters happy, and a love of soft and sweet things.  Unfortunately, Lettie takes even these traits to unhealthy extremes, but Jenny doesn't really see that side of things.
