This is one of those situations where both parties have a good point, and both are right.  I do think Loretta has every right to have swords out at school, where her mother couldn't see them -- but it does seem to be stretching things a little for her to go out and buy one on vacation with her family, despite her mother's express orders.  And her mother's totally right about the temper tantrum being quite disgraceful.  On the other hand, poor Loretta, losing something that cool!
