See?  Doesn't that seem like the exact focus Alassa would choose?  Since her older sister's so good at it, and has used the magic against her a few times, she'd be bound to want to get revenge by learning how to return the, um, favor.  By the way, the last panel in this strip is a reference back to Strip #187, which is in turn a reference to Strip #125.  Hee hee . . . I really enjoyed drawing this strip.
