This is one of the few strips I've ever drawn with Alassa having her eyes open.  They're almost always closed . . . that tends to give her just the right smug and annoying expressions.  By contrast, Aylia's eyes are almost always open -- I tried drawing her with her eyes closed once, but she looked way too much like Alassa for comfort.  So Alassa usually has a smug, closed-eyed expression, whereas Aylia tends to have an eager, open-eyed one.  I like details like that.
